Preparation: 20 Minutes
Cooking: 2 Hours and 30 Minutes
Portions: About 13 Smooth Braids
100 ml of milk 125 gr white yogurt 100 gr of sugar 80 gr of sunflower oil 1 Vanillina or Vanilla Drops 1 grated lemon peel 1 egg 500 gr of flour Dehydrated Brewer's yeast (7g)
Add the dehydrated brewer's yeast, two teaspoons of sugar to the flour and mix.
In a bowl we pour the warm milk, add the sugar, the yogurt at room temperature, the sunflower oil, the egg, vanilla and the grated peel of a lemon.
We begin to mix all the ingredients and add the flour a little at a time.
When the dough starts to be a little firmer, turn it over and work it for a long time, until you obtain a homogeneous and elastic consistency. Arrange the dough in a bowl, cut it crosswise with a knife, cover with plastic wrap and let our dough rise until doubled in volume, it will take about 2 hours.
Once the leavening time has elapsed, take the dough again and roll it out with a rolling pin on a lightly floured surface. We must obtain a rectangular sheet of about half a centimetre thick. With a pizza cutter we make strips 1 and a half cm wide, then cut them in half lengthwise.
We weave 3 strips at a time and make all the plaits, with this dose about 13 will come. Transfer them to a baking sheet with parchment paper on the bottom, cover with cling film and let them rise for 20 minutes.
We cook the soft braids with yogurt in a ventilated oven at 170 ° for about 20 minutes or in a static oven at 180 ° for the same time. Just out of the oven, when they are still hot, brush them with water, in this way they will be even softer both inside and out! If you want to make them tastier, you can add icing sugar to the surface or chocolate drops (as the below picture)
